Lt. Sall Graduates from FBI National Academy

West Fargo Police Lieutenant Duane Sall was one of two hundred sixty-six law enforcement officers who graduated December 11th, 2009 from the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia.  The 239th Session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 49 states.  Included in the class are member of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 27 international countries, four military organizations, and five federal civilian organizations.
 
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offers 11 weeks of advanced investigations, management, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies.  On average, these officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions. 

FBI Director Robert Mueller, was the principal speaker at the ceremony.

Training for the program is provided by FBI Academy instructional staff, Special Agents, and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise.
 
Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia due to the accreditation by the university of the many courses offered.
 
The graduating officers were represented by the class spokesperson, Stephen Sutton who is a Captain with the Washington State Patrol, in Bremerton, Washington.  A total of 43,230 graduates now represent the FBI National Academy since it began in July 1935.  Of this number, approximately 25,718 are still active in law enforcement work.

Lieutenant Duane Sall began his career at the West Fargo Police Department in 1992 as a Patrol Officer and served for four years as a Sergeant before being promoted January 1, 2009 to the position of Lieutenant.  Lt. Sall is the first to fill this rank at the WFPD. He has been active as a Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Field Training Officer (FTO).

Sall is originally from Moorhead MN having graduated from Moorhead High School and continued his education at Moorhead Tech as well as being a graduate of UND Lake Region Law Enforcement Academy, Devils Lake, ND.  His past experience as a police officer includes serving with the Grafton Police Department and he has been an officer with West Fargo Police since 1992.

Lt. Sall supervises all Patrol and Investigation staff including Patrol Sergeants and Investigations Sergeant.

RSS Icon West Fargo Police Department Becomes Prescription Drug Dropoff Location 12/21/2009 West Fargo Police become a drop site for the North Dakota Attorney General's new program "Take Back" , which provides permanent prescription drug disposal containers in a number of cities, Bismarck, Minot, Fargo, Grand Forks and now West Fargo. Residents of those cities and surrounding communities can safely dispose of unused prescription drugs in the permanent Take Back disposal containers located in the lobby of the local police departments in those cities.
