West Fargo Police Conduct Stop Light Enforcement
West Fargo Police Officers ticketed 12 drivers for red light violations March 4th and 5th while initiating their new enforcement actions. The enforcement period ran from 7:15 AM to 8:30 AM both days. The location was the intersection of Sheyenne and 32nd Ave. This intersection was selected due to the number of complaints received. The location was also the scene of a two vehicle crash on 4 March that resulted in heavy damage to both vehicles. A contributing factor in the crash was a red light violation. No one was hurt in the crash.
On March 3 West Fargo Police posted signs near the intersection to warn drivers of the enforcement actions. The signs remained in place until actions were completed on 5 March. Officer Pete Nielsen, who participated in the event both days, noted a change in driver behavior during the second day of the event with less violations occurring. Similar enforcement will take place throughout the spring and summer.
